Each year our P7 pupils get the opportunity to be formally trained in how to ride a bicycle safely, learn some rules of the road, and how to negotiate junctions.
The Cycling Proficiency Scheme is an initiative of the Department of Environment Road Safety Education Officer Service, sponsored by Centra.
Each child who is trained and reaches the required standard on the day of the test, receives a certificate and badge in recognition of their achievement.
The Cycling Proficiency Scheme aims to instil good road user behaviour from an early age and provides a solid foundation in good road user behaviour, which stands children in good stead as cyclists, pedestrians and later as drivers.
