This term the current P.6’s have started as they mean to go on. They have been working strenuously in both Numeracy and Literacy, revising over many topics from P.5, whilst learning new facts! The P.6 children have been finding out what flavour of crisp is the favourite as well as many other interesting findings in their data handling, whilst also looking for every different possibility using 2, 3, 4 and even five coloured cubes in their investigative work, they’ve even worked out the costing for our trip to Ardnabannon!
In Literacy we have been writing poetry about our senses and gave a recount on one of our favourite movies – Despicable Me. Accelerated reading has taken over the classroom with children reading in every spare second they have!
As well as all the Numeracy and Literacy the children have also been enjoying studying ‘The Titanic’ as part of our World Around Us Topic. Within this area of study the pupils have learnt about where the Titanic was built, the journey of the Titanic and the impact that the Titanic had on the world an how it has influenced ship building even today. We look forward to visiting the Titanic Centre in Belfast to bring the whole topic to life!
This has been a both a fun and hardworking term for the P.6 year group and we look forward to what is in store for the next two terms!
