We had an amazing day today at Castle Espie! The journey on the bus was great fun but that was only the start. After a quick snack a lovely lady called Laura came along to take us out on a duck hunt. We headed off along through the forest towards the swamp to learn all about mallard ducks. While she was showing us the toy mallard ducks three real ducks wandered up to see us. I think they thought that we would feed them but we had no grain. We then had fantastic fun hiding ducks for each other, some of them were very hard to find! After that we headed back to the ponds to feed some real ducks with grain. We got a handful each and went off to find some hungry ducks. Some of them were very hungry and dived down to find the food we were throwing.
Then after a quick hand wash we went off to explore on our own and find all the Lego sculptures that were hidden around the place. We walked back into the forest to find the swamp and the play park to build up our appetites.
All too soon it was time to return to the centre for a well earned lunch before setting off again for a long walk along the lough shore. There were lots of different ducks and birds to spot from the hides. Soon we were running out of steam and it was time to gather up our things and find the bus! It was a tired but happy group who arrived back to school but we all agreed it was a super day and we can't wait to go back.
We have added a lot of pictures for you to look at but it was a lot less than the 140 pictures we took! We hope you enjoy seeing how much fun we had.
